Benzoin Incense Bricks

Benzoin, also known as storax, is an essential oil derived from the Styrax officinalis tree.  It has been used as a perfume since antiquity and has a very distinctive woody, vanilla-like aroma, which makes one feel as though they are "wrapped in cotton wool."  It was often burned during the harvesting of frankincense, where it is claimed that the smoke from it will drive away snakes.  In modern times it has been used as a compound in Friar's Balsam.

The Incense Bricks are produced in India and unlike other forms of oil burning or diffusing, it does not require the addition of water.  The incense brick is simply placed in a suitable burner and a candle, such as a tea light, is ignited beneath it, where it will slowly release it's scent.

We recommend using the Incense Bricks with the Aromafume Burner.  This burner is powerful enough to withstand the heat from the Incense Bricks.  The method for using the bricks is as follows:

• Place the Incense Brick in a suitable burner, such as the Aromafume burner (which we sell).
• Ignite the tea light and allow it to burn and heat the Incense Brick for up to 60 minutes.
• Blow out the candle at the 60 minute marker and the scent from the Incense Brick will continue to radiate throughout your home for some time.
• Once the Incense Brick is sufficiently cooled, remove it from the burner and dispose of it safely.
• Use a new Incense Brick for each 60 minute burn cycle.

PLEASE NOTE:  It is essential that you follow the above instructions to the letter.  Burning the tea light for longer and 60 minutes will damage the burner and could cause problems for anything close by.  Refunds will not be given for burners that have been melted by the heat from the Incense Bricks if left burning for too long.
